Cold Remedies....
Well...it bust be snow season...I have a muther of a hebd code. Seems like ebery year around Canuck Thanksgiving....wammo. Seems also to coincide with major snowfalls in Colorado and or Montana...hmmmm.
So been doping on the ColdFx..nothing...sucking back Buckleys....a little relief. Boiled up some garlic for breathing...not so much but was not attacked by vampires last night so it must be doing something.
I am buying some rum tonight (ah hell this afternoon) for a hot rum and leamon tottie as soon as I get home.
Any other home remedies out there?

Zinc lozenges (best when it first comes on) and high doses of Vitamin C. Reduces colds and severity lots for me. I'm also a fan of decongestants (not antihistamines) to keep the snuffles from turning into a sinus infection. A good alternative to the decongestants, which can be addictive (and I'm not talking meth labs), is a nose pot (your basic nasal enema). Sounds gross, but is remarkably inoffensive and highly effective.

ATP is right....If you can get Alecer Corp's "Emergen-C" product, guzzle that to wash out the nasties and get high C doses...watch out for mega doses if your kidneys have any pain, back off to once daily on the Emergen-C...if it continues you have other problems and should see your doc right away.
Since your throat sounds okay, skip the Southern Comfort....but that's good for sore troats
SoCo w/Creme de Mente are okay for sore throat w/stuffy nose
Starve a cold....feed a fever....

I'm going with RR... EmergenC is the best... (good for general electrolyte replacement too) You should also try to convince some gulliable member of the opposite sex that you're dying and they need to make you chicken soup. That always helps

I do the zinc and C also, along with chicken soup. But to feel better while all that good stuff is going to work, I go for hot toddies. Lots of different recepies. The one I like involves hot water (steam opens nasal passages), honey (which I hear has antibacterial properties, as well as being soothing on the throat), a shot or so of brandy (more germ killing goodness), and a shot or so of lemon or orange juice (vitamin C).
Feel better soon!

You know I have never understoond that....and we don't seem to sell that Emergen 'C' stuff up here. There is probably some sort of chemical or dye that we have banned up here due to cancer in lab rats or something.
Gonna try to duck out early (ie now) and get smashed...er....medicated.

Easy: some calories that are easily digested will fuel the fever...your bod is trying to cook the germs....add some Melina's XXX to your oatmeal....that's the way to cook those wicked germs.
A cold on the other hand is so far opposite....gotta flush those baddies away with lots of fluids and few calories. The digestive process is on hold for colds...if you restart it by eating a bunch of calories it fouls up the anti-viral process you bod was smart enough to start.....don't try to out-smart your bod

a. Zinc Lozenges
b. Vitamin C
c. Lots and lots of herbal tea - probably the combination of steam and fluids. I like peppermint tea, echinachea tea, anything with anise for a sore throat.
d. Hot showers
e. Sleep - I'll bag work for a day when one is coming on. Better to stay in bed, sleep, and take the Vitamin C. Usually can get over it in less than 36-48 hours if I'm not out killing myself at work. Better to miss one day with a cold and get over it fast than to go to work every day, infect the office, and have the cold linger for a week or two.

I wish the sub-shop girl would heed this advice. I went in the other day and the girl at the counter was sniffling and looking terrible... not appetizing!
oh, and thanks for the reps
