Farewell to J Hole
Anyone thinking of a farewell trip to see off the tram? I haven't been there in 3-4 years and dread the thought of losing the Hobacks, Corbets and all the classic terrain accessible only by tram. I have several friends who have expressed interest, but no commitments yet. Planning on 4-6 days around a weekend, late- Jan. / early Feb. I do not discriminate on the basis of the number of planks you're attached to, just as long as you rip in deep pow and don't slow me down or care if I ditch you if you do.
I don't have a local's knowledge of Jackson, but have skied and ridden there about 5-7 days total and a bunch more in the surrounding BC. I have spent several weeks @ Targhee and plan on hitting it hard, possibly for a day on the cats. Also, definitely will do a day on the pass, conditions permitting.
I don't really believe this is the last chance for runs off the tram, but I'd hang myself if it is and I missed out.

Are there any plans of replacing the tram with anything? You cant exactly run a lift up cliffs like those near Corbets or the Laramees. (spl?) I've been in the summer, would kill to go there on a powder day.

Why are there always cars parked in that cam? Do you ski off of that little turnout or something?

Simply, no. apparently it's a lot of dough -- even too much for Jackson (which is hard to believe).

I have my trip booked and paied for sense Sept.
Im headed out Feb 18th and returning Feb 24th, Five Days skiing 19-23rd at J-hole.
Your welcome to join us, its our first time at J hole, and am happy I get a chance to ride the tram.
Id rather see them take it down, than see or read about it falling down, just too bad that they dont have $$$ for a replacment.
PM. me if you want to work out some plans.

I think all this talk of the tram removal is making for a banner sales year at JH....= busy as an irritated hornets nest. who knows, maybe they'll make enough coin this year to tip the repair the tram scale?
