Question Snowlovers and their signs

I always have wondered what makes us winterlovers and adventure seekers tick. Is it how we were raised? Is it the time of year we are born?

I know for me, since I was very very young, my Dad and I would go for walks/mini-hikes in the woods where I grew up. I always would be sooo curious as to where "that trail went", or what was on the other side of "that hill".

I started skiing on red plastic "strap-on" skis at the age of 3 in my driveway, and have loved it ever since.

If I woke up in the middle of the night, I would always look out the window to see if there was any new snow (and still do).

I'm a saggitarius. I do not know signs well, but I do know being a Sag means having an adventure spirit, a love of the outdoors, likes all walks of life, but can also be distracted easily, doesn't like routine.

What I would like to know from people is if they think their home life as a child influenced their winter/snow/adventurism love, or if it is the time of year they were born, or if they were just "born with it".

I owe it to my dad and grandfather for taking me on hikes and loving the outdoors. I owe Skiing/Boarding to my buddy kev, because his family intorduced me to that.

Im an Aries, and if you ask me, that doesnt mean Sh!t.

Hello group, I'm a Geminut. This is the astrobabble therapy group isn't it?

What lead me unto the paths untracked in winter (and in those warm months too) was being strapped onto a pair of really short wood skiis with leather bindings (hand-me-downs) from my elder brothers when I was just learning to walk. I think the pa~'rental units' tell me it was around 1 and a half yrs old. Ever since, I've wandered the many untrodden paths and trails that lay before me.

Since I was never one to really enjoy being indoors(except to thaw out , naturally I took to sliding in any manner possible from the get~go. Sleds, flexible flyers, saucers, homemade wind/ski surfboards, early snow boards and weird mechanized contraptions. Today, better than 40+ yrs later, I am continuing that quest of the path less travelled into my vocation.

What with 2 older brothers that enjoyed skiing, my folks capitalized on the "Let's figure out how to occupy the kids during winters" bonanza. That eventually lead to operating a small ski area in upstate NY and traveling to big name ski destinations. When not on slopes, I usually took to B/C touring on whatever gear I could get my feet on.

Now that I'm almost growed up (never will be... I'm a Geminut after all!) ,I still play like a kid in the woods.

I'm a Scorpio.

My parents threw me into lakes and the ocean when I was very young. They took me cross-country skiing as soon as I could stand. They put me in an after-school downhill ski program year after year. They don't really do any of these sports themselves, but always said they wanted me to be better (and more comfortable) at them than they were.

It worked.

As an Aquarian I am supposed to deliver water...as I am the middle man, I get to choose my wholesaler....naturaly I test the water thououghly, from the moment it falls from the sky as snow...all of my water is used snow. Only the finest unfrozen, used snow for my customers.

Born in ski season, playing in the snow since I was just 2...very little else is all that important.....except puncturing Ice with shap objects.

My dad liked snow, but he only took me skiing once. I went sledding a lot as a kid.

My kids are going to LOVE winter no matter what. They already get excited when it snows, and they've both been on my back cross country skiing before.

Tried the red K-tel skiis at an early age and HATED it. My dad said i would fall down and refuse to get up. At age 8 we had another go at it with "real" equipment and been hooked since. It is in my blood as well....My dad was a HUGE racer/jumper is his day, back when Billy Kidd had Stowe as his stomping grounds. My Aunt was a HUGE skier as well, and good at it. I have a bunch of old memorabilia from my dad from the early days. I just bought my daughter her first pair of sticks the other day (she is 2) and she WILL like winter (she already does)
i think living in VERMONT has a lot to do with it as well

My parents took me out west every year starting as an infant. I was on skis and in lessons at Vail by age 4. Then ripping the midwest all year back home in Chicago. I've always loved the winter because it brings te snow.

I am also a Saggitarius, and I was born during a blizzard that dumped 4 feet on Chicago... Might have something to do with it...

I grew up near Detroit and went sledding with a Red Runner on the trash heaps they call hills back there. My buddies and I used to stand up on the sleds when we went down - painful but fun. We learned to love eating balls of snow thrown from behind fortress walls. My family didn't ski (that was for rich people from Chicago who went to Colorado); if they did, I probably would be a ski bum out west.

Today is my birthday - you can guess my Sign.

Steve

Happy Birthday Rider-Steve.

I'm a Taurus and I've had a skiing problem since age 2.

Thanks man. Now drink two two-baggers and kiss your wife twice as nicely.

Cool... Happy Bday!!! Ihope you get some...

I'm a claaaaassic Gemini.,.... Found skiing from Xcountry in Ohio... I actually xcountried to go to friends houses and stuff... It was an awesome means of transportation... Then my church group went for a night of skiing and I was hooked - or at least I kenw it was something I liked...

Just to add - cause this is a great thread for my current mood..

I love skiing.... Rode a few hours this afternoon - celebrated the solstice with a good friend.... And reveled in hanging out at the bar afterwords... So many cool people - so many different stories and backgrounds... Was drinking beers with some NYPD officers that were up skiing for the day... Who'd thought that a Deadhead from NJ would eventually be hanging out with cops... ???

It really doesn't matter what you are or do - skiing/riding is an incredible connection... We're all pretty lucky to be into this craziness...

HAPPY SOLSTICE!!!!

Mt. Holly and Pine Knob by any chance? Grew up near Detroit too and "raced" at both.

Happy Birfday.
