Baker is getting Hammered.....

From the Baker Website...

Quote:
The ski area could have delayed limited opening today. We are updating this report with weather information and then we will update again around 8:00ish with operation details.

As we near 300 inches of snowfall in the past month and with more snow expected this week, stay tuned for daily operation information because it will vary this week.
They have had to reduce access/opperations or even close down a few times over the last month to let the new snow settle out. They have been getting over a foot a day for the last few days......almost 25 feet of snow in January....what a bad time for me and Jess to not be there.

Ispoiler...you're my hero!

If the weather around here keeps in this pattern...I'm gonna get hammered. Nothing else to do. Who's up for a little grass sliding?

dammit! What did we do to deserve this? As a side note, the PSW deserves this after their winter (well cold spring) they had last year.

Agreed. I hit it the one time it dumped 2 feet all winter last year and lucked out. My bro had a pass for Alpental that he used 2 days and I think they were only open for a total of 10 all season - they gave him a free one for this season. He now lives in Bellingham and has a pass for Baker, where I'll be Sat, Sun & Mon - hopefully snow level will stay low Fri p.m. East coast reprieve must be coming soon - it's been too bad not to get good for the second half of the season.

I love it out there. Alpental is a great 'little' mountain. It's much like a MRG but in WA state. Bellingham is a great place as well, you may find me there in a few years...

ride is on a distinguished road
This came up last night since the wx still sucks around here and we were seriously considering it with a the new snow out there:
Jet Blue has flights to Sea-Tac that leave Logan at 8:45 pm Friday with a return to Boston on Monday at 9am. I just checked these fares again at 9:45am and RT cost is still $269. The problem- I couldn't find a family member to watch the pooch since the wife is away until Monday. Damn responsibilities!

Somebody ought to take advantage of this deal and come on out. PM me if you do - plenty room @ my bro's house in Bellingham. Anyone have any thoughts / experience @ Baker during banked slalom? It's this weekend and I don't know if it will be good crowd wise because everyone will be watching the race or bad because a million boarders will descend on the hill.

Steamboat just hit the 300" mark overnight..... So much pow and too few of us to play in it. And remember, life is NOT a beach.

We'll get our due soon.

count on it being packed, crazy stupid and fun as hell! I say it is worth it...chances are if they get another wack of snow you will have the best of both worlds...fresh show...a legendary race and a wicked party and vibe.

Go with an open mind...have fun and take pictures.
