Olympics Mens Downhill

Poor Bode & Daron Both looked solid, but unexceptional. Then Antoine Deneriaz from France made the most beautiful run of the day. He was low and sleek and fast: perfection on two planks. Its great watching a run you know is in a different league. Like watching Johnny Mosely get his gold - you knew he had it just watching him. So, sad we did not medal, but glad to have watched such a performance.

I am in awe of all those guys; the speed and acuity that they adjust to what is happening is unreal. But Mr. D's run was beautiful to behold; what a treat.

No use crying over someone else's masterpiece. Deneriaz took a way better line than everyone else, especially in the technical top section. Starting 30th doesn't hurt if nobody else has rutted up your planned line. He carried so much more speed from the top that his lead positively ballooned as he tucked the flatter sections. Sheer beauty. As Bode said, [paraphrasing] Maybe I could have done a few things better and come in second, but Antoine just had an Olympic run [end paraphrase]. Awesome performance.

There's no nation, there is no opponent.....there is only self mastery that permits perfect espression....M. Deneriaz had that going. I found myself cheering for him all the way; I remain happy for him and his masterpiece!

Maybe I'm saying something out of turn, but it looked to me that B & D were off form. D because he let go and B because he held too tight...
