Discuss the crappy conditions!!!

What is up with snowstorms in April? I mean, knee-deep, untracked snow on Easter? Who else is fed up with these recent weather trends of bottomless powder?

BTW: Those who went to Jay today, I'm sure you missed out. Your snow got tracked. The snow at Smuggs was, well, knee deep, absolutely untracked at noontime if you knew where to look.

and BTW: if you were stuck in your house in MA today, the snow was um...untracked as well. but nonexistant.

It sucked in YOUR part of Canada....my part of Canada was epic....knee to thigh deep mud as far as you can see. Pure bliss....got my dad's ladder stuck in the back yard while hanging the annual Easter Pinata....At least the trout are running.

'nuff said

from BUSH dot com
and NO i have not been able to hit it.....

Well, it snowed again . . . this is the 6th consecutive powder day in April. We picked up another 11” overnight bringing our 24 hour total to 15" at the summit. Our 48 hour total is well over 1 ½ FEET, and since Wednesday we’ve received over 3 ½ FEET. Even more surprising than how much new snow we’ve picked up is how light and fluffy it is – this is genuine Champlain Powder in April! It looks like mid February out there and yet yesterday we went to spring ticket rates – what a steal! We’ll hit the low 30s at the base and the low 20s up top with the likelihood of some more snow showers. Some accumulation is possible. In fact, that's pretty much the forecast through Thursday. To make lodging reservations call 1-800-53-SUGAR.

Lincoln Peak is 100% open and you'll find something for all skill levels and desires. Base depths are at 12-58” and surface conditions are powder and packed powder. Grooming was light last night – we hit 19 of our 72 open trails so powder turns will be plentiful. I had a lot of fun on the 'Rock yesterday but that’s a given with nearly 4 feet of fresh powder. Patrol’s Pick is Lixi’s Twist.

Today's Avy Report notes they've had 7 straight days of measurable snow at Hermit Lake, including an additional 4+" yesterday. It's shaping up for some killer conditions in Tuck's if and when the avy danger drops (High and Considerable today, because of lots of wind loading). I'm crossing my fingers that this weekend will be a nice one . . .

Yeah, it will be a nice one for avi danger, if this trend continues. Sposed to snow more this week? I hear a snowstorm on Thursday? Though its supposed to be partly sunny here on Friday and Saturday, so who knows how it will shape up.

Take the early bus to Boston and get on the Concord trailways to arrive at PNVC on a Friday evening. Ski your brains out on Saturday and hop on the CT southbound at 7:30 Sunday morning.....or you could risk it, ski some more for half a day on Sunday and try to get a ride back to Boston from one of the many cars headed thattaway from PNVC on Sunday afternoon from around 3PM and onward.

back in the day I'd hitch up and back....whereupon my parents would yell at me. Then I would do it again and again...some things are well worth getting yelled at....but save up for bolt cutters.

my next TUX trip is with the Scouts, and their liability insurance does not allow BC skiing. Just hiking though. however, i am planning on hiking a sled up. is it kosher to sled down the sherbie? i'd imagine not, but it might be dangerous to slef the TRT as well. There were two people sledding the sherbie when I was there, but I just don't want to cause any trouble.

RR - sounds like a plan, def. worth being yelled at for.

write up a waiver that absolves them of liability, would this work? could you skin up and "snow slide" down or or some other dumb contrived other term for skiing?

liability insurance = lame

medical insurance = best thing ever (i'd be broke (financially and physcially)many times over without it)

controlled descent on edged planks? nah, i really don't think that would fly. i've kinda pushed the limit on this many other places, too, so I don't think I stand in
