Changes in Hillman's Topograghy?

I was up yesterday for a glorious day of sun, fun and dead battery in camera

Since I hadn't been on Hillman's in a number of seasons (that and the little headwall being unskiable), I figured I'd give HH a shot. Hiking up, it seems we weren't taking the path that I had remembered. I was dismissing this to old age/new onset Alzheimers, but then the narrow trail took a turn and we were in the outrun of the slide path.

We hiked up to about 100 vertical below the top, were the krumholtz overpowered the snowpack and jumped into the corn, which turned into cream lowerdown and finally into soup. When we go to the lower portion of the out run, there were some large bolders in the path below where we had turned onto the outrun. These look new, or am I just not remembering what HH looks like? If that's the case, this must have been a pretty big slide.

I was thinking about thread This thread.

Maybe "change in topography" is too drastic, but it seems like you ski out a differentpath now because of some good sized rocks.

I wouldn't be surprised if it changed in that many years - slides happen and big ones can take a lot of stuff with them. Just look at the biga$$ slide that happened in the trap dike in the adks this year... nothing stays the same, especially in areas with known slides/ice fall/rock fall.

Nahhhhh... you've got Mad Cow disease... that's all!

Actually you're not far from the truth.... rockslides have been seen up there. I wonder if anything at HoJo's has recorded any notable slides/falls? Be interesting to find out.
