East Coast Bro Demos?

Does anyone know were to demo a pair of Bros on the east coast? I ski at Tremblant, LeMassif, Killington and Jay Peak to name a few and would be willing to take a trip up to 8hrs driving range.

I would appreciate any help!

Post back if you have any luck. I tried to find a pair of Mantras to demo the past few weekends without any luck. Settled on the Dynastar Mythic Riders which I got to demo and had lots of fun on.

LPNH will become famouser soon enough
Bro demos

I just spent two weeks out in Utah and met the owner of Bro ski Co. Call Craig in the ski shop where they do sharpening etc. from Solitude, He is originally from New Hampshire and I am confident he can hook you up in some manner. Those skis are kickin'.

i ran into the same issue...great reputation from everyone who talks about them @ TGR but couldn't find any place to demo them last year (i tried the TGR board, and was looking in UT or CA to demo). sounds like LPNH found a great option if you can hook that up.

otherwise, i think the best way to go is try to get a personal demo/hookup from someone that owns them on the east coast. TGR would be your best option, i'd think.

FWIW, i took my chances and got a pair of "blems" 188 stiff current year model. i mounted them with marker dukes (small) so there is some amount of adjustability if you wanted to try them. my only issue is i haven't gotten out in the east coast yet this year and may not until spring @ tux. PM me if you're interested. i think the duke smalls will adjust up to BSL 320 or so if i remember. i mounted them true to the line @ 305 so if you're BSL > 305 you might feel like you are in the backseat...which won't give you the best feel for the ski, especially in east coast conditions.

also, FWIW, the skis are pretty sick! it depends on what you want them for though. i skied them in UT for a week. in bounds in tight chutes, i found them to be pretty burly in really tight spaces. you really have to be on your game or you will pay the price. in open terrain, big mountain environs, BROS SLAY it!
great in deep pow, amazingly solid at speed...will absolutely incinerate crust, mank, chopped up pow.

skis are heavy for touring in 188 stiff especially with marker dukes. not a great east coast touring ski since you spend much of your time skinning and most descents are tight and technical not open. they make for a great ski if you ski mostly bigger mountain west coast. there are other sizing / stiffness options if you were looking for an east coast touring ski. i've heard good things about the 179 soft for touring.

Everyone is talking about a pair of "blems" that they got...How exactly do you get a pair of "blems"? Is it easy to get a pair and what is the cost?

What is your weight/height? Looks like the 188 stiffs were a bit too big of a ski for you. I am 5'11", 185lbs and considering either 179 stiff or 188 stiff. Too bad they ran out of 183 stiffs.

My boot sole is 325, so it won't work, but thanks a lot for the offer!

blems are the rejects from the manufacturing process. the owners of pmgear sell them from time to time in the gear swap section of tgr. costs vary depending on the blem e.g. mine were prototypes/demos used for a few days and drilled once. others sometimes have minor "blem"ishes such as topsheet bubbles, etc. some have unmatched cambers or more structural issues. costs will depend on these factors. if you are interested, go to tgr and do some research.

i'm 5'10 175#'s. 188 stiffs aren't simply too big or too small or too anything...they are a heavier ski than some because they are longer than parabolic skis and are aspen cores with burly edges, so they are not as surgical in tight spots such as chutes. they are not a very technical ski for edge hold or carving...not much taper to them. what they are is an absolute bomber, hual ass west coast ski. they excel in variable depth snow because they are strong and deflect death cookies, tracked and refrozen crud, etc. and they will ski almost any condition reasonably well, so they are pretty versatile.

if you are interested, definitely research them. if you are primarily looking for a big mountain western ski, they kill. for east coast groomers and east coast touring the 188's aren't the best option IMO. 179 softs might be pretty good for touring, but they are a wood core ski and heavier than composites. unless british columbia suddenly slid east, these won't be the "best" option for eastern canadian skiing either...again my .02 (cad)

I would love to try the 183 stiffs. My explosives are getting a little thin in the base. Any word on anything "official" from the Mags?

From what I have heard the 183 Stiffs give you the stability of the 188 with the manuverability of the 179. They are stiffer than the 179 Stiffs (which were apparently on the softer side) I took the 183's through the trees and I felt like I was on a ski 5-10cm shorter. I credit the light swing weight for that. In line with that they probably tour better than the 188 being on the lighter side. I really truly believe that this ski epitomizes the idea of a one ski quiver for east coast or west coast. I loves wide open speed, and at the same time it makes any shape turn, and is super manuverable. If anyone on here takes the plunge, buys them and doesnt like them, I will buy them off you and mount dynafits on them - hold me to that.

I think SPat had some shops doing the demo's out west. I was thinking something similar. Regardless I'm a 305 too. I've yet to get to Cannon this season. Sort of waiting on things to freshen up a bit after this NCP.
