Mostly OT- Tofino surf/ski TR

Another west coast TR. This time out latest trip, surfing in Tofino BC. Did try to sneak in a ski tour on the drive home, about an hour from Tofino but I ran out of time so will have to return another day to finish that mission.

Nope, they all sensed I lived there before 98% of them. Ha.

The real story, they were all surfing much larger waves than I was on and therefore nowhere near us for the most part. I've heard the attitude is bad at Jordan River but I never really heard of it being a problem at Tofino, but maybe times have changed.

So jealous - SW Canuckistan has got NW U.S. beat hands down surf-wise. I've had some decent waves in OR, but never gotten it good in WA - seems they've always got onshore winds. Some day I've gotta get up to Van I. and hit it.

How's water temp? Prolly mid to upper single digits?

Ever get down to Sombrio? I've seen some footage of the waves there and it goes off. Some day . . .

Thanks for updating us, dood. Glad to see your still living the dream out thar.

They give you grief when you show up at the less well know spots. "we haven't seen anyone out here that we didn't know in 10 years. How did you find this spot?"

Somegood- check out the two sisters river mouth. Some of the best waves I have surfed in the past 15 years! We did it as a day trip, to much time in the car/ferry, not enough surf.

Water was about 9 Celius (48F), although the first AM it felt even cooler.

I've only ever surfed 4 days in my life besides a lot of kayak surfing years ago. Both times in Tofino. Sad but I used to live about 10 minutes away from the some of the best surfing on the east coast in Lawrencetown, NS. Never took advantage. So I have never been to Sombrio/ Jordon River or any other spots. But I have surfed 4 different beaches in Tofino now plus kayak surfed an offshore island beach there.

Where is 2 sisters?

Glad you enjoyed the TR.
