AMC Building at Hermit Lake (HoJo's)

The AMC has a small building located just above the Hermit Lake shelters, and just below the floor of Tuckerman Ravine. About 1.5 hours hike up from Pinkham Notch, this is your first view of Tuckerman as you come out of the forest just below the building.

The building is used mainly for mountain rescue and provides no facilities of any sort. On the south wall (far left of this photo, you will find daily conditions posted for Tuckerman and neighbouring Hillman Highway (top left of photo). Avalanche dangers are posted also on this board, be sure to check them out.

HoJo's has a rather large sundeck for the sunbathers, mind you there is more action happening up in the bowl, another 40 minutes hike up from here.
