Avalanche danger was moderate to high today, Sunday May 18, 1997. Cool temperatures, wind gusts in the morning, and great sun in the afternoon.
Arriving at Lunch Rocks just up from the bottom of the ravine at 11:30am after leaving Pinkham at 9:00am, a 2.5 hour hike. Still some excellent rocks up for grabs for stashing packs and swapping hiking boots for ski boots. A good portion of the rocks normally exposed at this time of the year are still covered by snow. |
